Questions
Does my PDF get uploaded?
No. Paradoc runs in this browser tab. The page loads its own code from paradoc.online, and then your PDF is read and written on your device, by PDFium, the engine behind Chrome's PDF viewer, built into WebAssembly. You can check: open your browser's network panel, and watch for a request carrying your file. There isn't one (the page only fetches its own code).
How strong is the protection?
Paradoc encrypts with AES-256, the strongest encryption the PDF format offers.
Can I unlock a PDF without knowing its password?
Not one that needs a password to open: Unlock removes a password you know. If a PDF opens without one but blocks editing, copying or printing, Unlock removes those restrictions.
I forgot the password on a PDF I protected. Can you recover it?
No, and neither can anyone else. That is the point. Paradoc encrypts with AES-256 and keeps no copy of your password, so there is no reset and no back door.
